About:
Palash Bhattacharjee (b. 1983) is an artist based in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Palash Bhattacharjee entered the scene with a series of performative stocks. Along with photo-video installations based on his performances and site-specific works, he included another important component: sound. He articulates the neural through the experiential, from his early photo and video installations in 2009 to his more recent near-absurd performances and video installations. Since 2011, he's been developing a practice that splits into two distinct but overlapping strands: video and performance. His single-channel or multi-channel videos and performances are the result of his meditations on the body's communion with spatial reality, which are frequently set in a temporal context. As he sets out to restore an event from his life that is both overwhelming and abstract, he reorganizes multiple approaches. He is an artist based in Chittagong, Bangladesh and received his Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Chittagong University's department of Fine Arts in 2010 and 2009.

Country : Bangladesh/India
Participated As: Artist
About:
Tilottama B. (pronoun as they), is a practitioner of creative intersectionality and art facilitator. They have a keen interest in making zine, graphic books, and comics as a mode of communication. Tilottama are curious to expand the possibilities of sharing inquiry as a discipline of future cross-analysis where the mode of exploring visual is not limited to conceptualization but the 'point of observation' as well. They would like to de-manifest the idea of the ‘Self’ beyond the ' urban singularity'. For them, it is a matter of understanding or accepting the nature of known/unknown ' proposition plural selves. It doesn't always have an autonomous existence mostly because it is overshadowed by the reflection of our pre-self preposition. They wouldn't feel comfortable living consciously within the preconceived social structure where much marginal discourse also lies down without any interventions. At the same time, collectively we are all in the midst of various new normal tensions, collective alienation, resilience as well. They have around a decade of experience in facilitating learning in the multimedia creative languages focusing on interpersonal creative development especially with children and also fluid womxn's social issues broadly in the mode of co-learning process. They like to apply interactive learning and cultural media as a tool for collective development. In search of that fluid communication, tilottama majorly explores audio-visual ideas through brush-color, pen-pencil, virtual language, digital camera, and also other hybrid methods.

Name : Tsering Motup Siddho(He/Him)

Participated As: Artist
About:
Tsering Motup Siddho is a multidisciplinary visual artist who lives and practices in Leh. Motup was born and raised in Ladakh and Mysore; he has a B.F.A in Fine Arts from Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore, with a specialization in Painting. Followed by a Masters of Fine Arts from Shiv Nadar University, Delhi. Motup’s practice encompasses many different forms of expression, from performative works to video installation, photography, drawing and painting. He has taken part in several group shows around India, as well as participated in a performance piece at Kochi-Muziris Biennale (Student Biennale ), Group Video installation show at TIFA working studios, Pune, Inner Path Festival at Alliance Francaise, Delhi. He is also a recipient of the Sher-Gil Sundaram Arts Foundation at 1Shanthi Road Art residency 2017, Darashikoh Fellowship 2018, and was a part of Group Video show of Artist Unite, 2019. More recently, he was part of KYTA Resident artist worked at ACHI Association as Coordinator and assisted an architect with the preliminary works of ENSA Dukang Yokma, Nubra, 2018 and currently works as Arts Officer at the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation, Leh, where he has curated his first exhibition ‘How much water is enough water?’ Motup’s experiences with stereotyping and its associated memories have compelled him to use his art practice to express a quest for the self in the philosophical dimension and socio-cultural context. He attempts to touch upon these sensitive issues through a personal rubric using various media in performative gestures. He uses his body to present himself and thereby talk about identity and other fundamental issues and queries regarding the socio-cultural constitution of selfhood vis-à-vis questions of identity, stereotype, memory, home and migration which spring from his own unique identity of the racial “Other” in relation to main stream Indian identities. Through his more recent body of works, Motup has attempted to juxtapose these two selves and place them in conversation with each other, just as he has attempted to put various mediums in conversation in his quest for the self which is revealed to be elusive and ridden with the crisis. Living and practicing art in Ladakh, today a vital border area for the country but one that has also been at a confluence of many trades and pilgrimage routes, has made Motup reflect on the place of cultural convergences here. He uses his visual art to reflect on the position of the socio-cultural politics of the present, to explore and discuss the varied discourses in the mainstream. Motup says ‘I wistfully returned home after my education from the mainland to find all these nuances in my work’.

Name : Yusmarg Collective(Kashmir)
Country : India
Participated As: Collective
About:
Yusmarg Collective(YC) is an open space for all kinds of cultural practitioners to meet, gather, interact and engage in a dialogue with each other in Kashmir. YC birthed out of the crisis that was faced post-Aug 5 2019 in Kashmir when people were caught in the unforeseen circumstances and events that played out, initially in the forms of curfews, bans, and restrictions, and following that the global pandemic. These circumstances almost led to the closing of all opportunities and avenues of artistic expression. While global pandemic seemed to intensify it all, turning restricted movement, interruptions in life, isolation, and distancing as normative modes of being, YC acts as a space for dialogue, conversations, and care in difficult times.
